Knowing what to wear for a family photoshoot is so important because it can affect the overall look and feel of your photos. Wearing the right clothing can help enhance your beautiful features, complement the setting, and convey the desired mood of your session. Additionally, it can help you feel more confident and comfortable in front of the camera, which can translate into better photos. Here are some tips to help you at your next family photoshoot!

What to Wear: Tip Number 1

Pick a color scheme and stick to it. Choose outfits with complementary colors and patterns. Aim for coordinating outfits rather than matching ones. And definitely avoid logos or busy prints. They don’t photograph as well.  Here are three beautiful examples of colors that work well together during this spring and summer season.

What to Wear: Tip Number 2

Dress comfortably and in clothes that make you feel confident and happy.  And don’t be afraid to dress up!! Have a fabulous outfit you’ve been wanting to show off? Wear it. Have heirloom outfits for your littles to wear? Bring them! You can always dress your littlest loves once you get to the session location if you are worried about spills or spit up.

What to Wear: Tip Number 3

Consider the location and weather when choosing your outfit. Is it the middle of summer? Or cooler winter temps? Your photographer will also be helpful with this! I always talk to my clients about outfits and weather before our sessions. Then we are all prepared and the stress is lifted.
